Driver Training School Bond

Driver school bonds are required in some states in order for a person to obtain a license to instruct a driver training school. These bonds protect students (or legal representatives of students) who may suffer loss as a result of fraudulent behavior on the part of the driver school instructor. Some states have one specific bond penalty (amount) required, and some states require different bond penalties based on the class of driving school. It is important to contact your state obligee (person or entity requiring the bond) in order to determine the bond penalty being required.

Driver training school bonds bind the principal to agree to comply with all laws, acts, ordinances, and regulations relating to instructing a driver school.

Most of these bonds are continuous, but some states require that the bond term run in concurrence with the license term. If a continuation certificate is needed, one will be mailed to the principal. It then becomes the principal’s responsibility to make sure that the original certificate is delivered successfully to the corresponding state office.

Driver school bonds typically have a 30-day cancellation provision, depending on the state’s preference.
